James Wittschack

I was with the Patrol from  February 1985 thru August 1991. I spent most of my time at #3, but was detailed to #1 for about a year as a chauffeur. I left to work at Suffolk County Police as a Dispatcher. I am still there as a Supervisor. I am still married to Christine and have a 5yr old daughter named Mariah Lynne and live out in eastern Long Island. I had a great time while I was there hanging out with Mulvey, Lee, Margaritis and McGuinness. I have some fond memories of working there and of the group of people I worked with. My original squad was Jim Gilbride, Larry Lutz, John Hank, Billy Lee, Al Savitsky and then Sgt. Reimuller. ( I think I got everybody). I think Capt. Reimuller is the only left there from that group.

The last time I had seen anybody there was Keith Roma's funeral. I took the ride in and all though it was a sad event, it was great seeing everyone. Please feel free to email me, I would love to get back in touch with any of the guys I used to work with.

I also heard about what was going on with NYBFU, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know.
James Wittschack
Ex Patrolio #347

P.S.--I still talk about the wedding gift I received from Larry McGuinness, Ray Bogart and a few others. After returning to work after my honeymoon, I was given an envelope. Inside were mutuals from this bunch covering all the holidays I was scheduled to work. They felt that a newlywed should be home for Christmas and such, so they took time from their families so I could be with my new one. That was in 1989 and I still have not forgot it!!!!!!!

Lieutenant Rudolph "Rudy" Adams

a.k.a. "Flip-Flop", retired in 2003 after 32 years on the job and worked in all three houses through his tenor. Rudy worked his way up the ranks becoming the first African-American Sergeant and the only African-American Lieutenant in the history of the New York Fire Patrol. Rudy now resides in Washington, D.C. and is still a die-hard Mets and Jets fan. Rudy loved his job and misses his NYFP family!
